Info for Project - Posted by Kelly

Hi Everyone -

Here are the notes that I have taken in class and in our meetings in regards to our project. Please let me know if anything needs clarification. I hope things are going well for you all. Don't forget that we also have to turn in a one page reflection about the project on our own. Have a Happy Thanksgiving!!

In Section II, #3 - With whom will I join in mission? Here are the notes I have...
We want to create a coalition of churches from all denominations to support and sponsor a "Sister Church" - each church meeting a particular need (I think we decided since then that we are only going to start with one church here and one pastoral family there, but I wanted to give you the notes anyway).

Remember when you are writing that this is called the "CHUVA PROJECT". We should refer to this formal name when we write.

Here are some bulleted notes:
*Construction for pastor's homes and church buildings
*Assist spiritual growth - send teams to work alongside pastors
*Skilled professionals - medical/business clinics, coursed for nationals
*Assist native pastors - in obtaining further education and helping them to teach others
*Scriptural References - Galatians 6:10, Acts 11:27-30, Romans 15:26-27, II Corinthians 8:1-5, also don't forget the scripture references that Orlando gave in his description post!

Other notes:
*We have chosen 1 community - we would like to see 3/4 pastors in rural communities make a comity to expand the vision. Also later venture into trade and farming to help communities.

Sister-Church notes:
*Minimum commitment of 5 years
*There is a commitment between the two churches without the involvement of "higher authorities", project #s, world missions, etc.

Here are some websites to check out other sister church activities:
www.christiansinaction.org
www.RMINET.org
You can also google International Sister Churches and find more websites and information.

If anyone has any further notes or info to add to this list, please do so.

Thanks to all for your hard work. Remember to post by this Wednesday at 1pm your preliminary work so that everyone can work together.
